To Glorify Him.....

This is the maiden post for a blog that will be used by our family to log our adventure to Ghana West Africa, to the Village of Hope (VOH). It will also be used later in May for our Ghana Mission Team from Arlington. We are extremely excited about making this trip to see the work first hand and see if we can in some way serve our brothers and sisters at the VOH and outside the VOH.

I have at times labored over how to start this blog, and come up the words that I should use to begin to describe what it is we are going to do and what it is we are hoping to accomplish. But today changed that, today I gained some perspective. Today I learned that a very dear friend of mine, my sister in Christ Mary Ann Beeman (Coleman) died in her sleep Wednesday evening April 4th after a very special night of outreach ministry at the Arlington Church of Christ in Knoxville. Mary Ann was very special to all of us and has been steadfast in her devotion to her God, her children, her husband and the rest of her family.

There is absolutely nothing that can prepare us for the unexpected news of the death of someone we love, especially when they are young. It pierces the heart and the ache makes it difficult to breath.

When I talked to my brother Mark Brackney Thursday, as he called to give me the news, he told me about Mary Ann being on his outreach team the night before. He said that he would never forget their last encounter together at a house that they visited and Mary Ann telling the person at this house to remember "God will always love you!" I told Mark she was doing what she was created to do, she was glorifying her God and that is all God asks us to do. John 17 is a good place to do some reading about Jesus' prayer to his Father, that he finished the work his Father sent him to do. Which was to Glorify Him. It is what we have all been created to do. Jerry Tallman has been telling me this all week! Thank you Jerry!

So this is what we are hoping to do on our trip to Ghana West Africa, this is what we are hoping to accomplish at the Village of Hope. To do what God has asked us to do.

To Glorify Him.....
